Housekeeping Automation FAQs — Manual Departure Job Creation, Status Change Optii Behaviour

When a housekeeping job is manually added or created, does the room's clean status need to be manually updated?

No. Under normal circumstances, when a new departure cleaning task is added or created, the system automatically updates the room status to Vacant Dirty (VD).

However, there is an exception to this rule if you are modifying an existing task rather than creating a new one.

Why didn't a room's status update automatically after a change?

If a room status fails to update (for example, remaining as Vacant Clean (VC) when it should be dirty), it is usually because an existing task was edited instead of replaced.

Example Case: If an existing "check" task is manually edited and changed to a "departure" clean, the system views this as a modification rather than a new creation. Because the original task was altered, the automated status-change rule does not trigger.

Best Practice for Optii Management Users

To ensure the system automatically updates a room's status correctly:

  • Do not manually edit the task type of an existing job.
  • Instead: Cancel the incorrect existing task and create a brand-new task. This ensures the automation triggers seamlessly.
